Visa fullständig version : Lake Michigan - Brown Trout
Went fishing out of Muskegon this morning. DIRTY DOG, my sons, and B-Dawg came along, and we ended the day, 1 for 1. We started setting lines before we hit the end of the inner channel, and once we rounded the pier, we hooked up with a nice brown trout(7 or 8lbs) around 9:05am.

As you can see in this picture, the lake was flat, and the wind was hardly blowing. When we pulled lines, it was blowing 20+ mph.
This fish came on a high line 125 behind a board with my new bait. :)

I thought this was going to be a great day after an early start. This ended up being the only thing we caught today. The wind picked up around 11am, and it got COLD going on a South troll. We fished until around 12:30 without another bump, and pulled lines.
The fish was caught on a South Troll @ 2.0mph on the probe. The water temp in the mud was 43 degrees. In the clean water, the water temp is 38 degrees.
I know of another boat that was out that caught a brown trout in 6FOW on a hot-n-tot.
Nice trout! Congratulations!
Im just curious, what are the fishing regulations for trolling in lake michigan, number of rods, minimum lenght on trout, maximun number of fishes etc.?
My sister and my brother in law lives in Marquette and is starting to get an intrest in trolling. Do you have any good tips for trolling in lake Michigan around Marquette?:)

Nice brown trout Mike, congratz!
We have been trolling the Baltic sea, off the Island of Öland.
From two to four boats have been fishing for three days and only two salmons have been caught.
Two of these days I was fishing, short days tho, five and six hour trips.
I ran 20 rods for six hours yesterday, not as much as a strike.
I was covering all depths from surface and down to 130FOW.
Trying most of gear, mag sized spoons, standard sized spoons, from 3" and up Apex, with and without flashers, Flies with flashers.
I know there was two boats out today, and I know that atleast one of them didn´t catch any fish.
In this area the best time for fishing is the late summer time and autumn.

Loads of tips and reports, nice atmosphere and a great place to be.

Same result down here Kjelle, we trolled south Hasslö friday and nothing happened at all, no wind, no waves and no fish, the place to be now is Southern Bornholm or the Rygen area but soon the big, angry salmons will pass trough our waters as well:cool:

Martin,
We are allowed to fish 3 rods per person. There is no minimum length on salmon. I believe lake trout are the only fish that have size limits and seasons, and it veries along the coast. We are allowed to keep 5 fish per day. These can be 5 salmon, or a combination of salmon and trout. We may not keep more than 3 of one species of trout. A salmon is not a trout, which is why we can keep 5 of them.
Fishing is poor fishing out of my port in April, and does not pick up until mid May. The lake is still very cold this year, and I believe it will be even later before it picks up this year. July and August are the best months.
Last year I caught 178 fish on my boat in 24 trips.
Ok, thanks for the info GLF! Sounds like the fishing is pretty good in Michigan! :)
